Hi, I decided to get a new macbook M1, but I can't decide which one to get. I am currently a grad school student. Usually I just use the computer for school work (essays, projects, emails), Youtube, and regular usage. I do use it for other kinds of purposes like music editing and video editing (but not to the extent of a professional). Sometimes I play games like the Sims 4 (also not an intensive gamer). Should I get the air or pro, depending on my usage? Right now, I prefer the Air because of the price and the amount of work it can do. But I'm afraid it will get really hot and slow as I increase the workload. I want to keep the new macbook for at least 6 years. If I do end up getting the Air, should I upgrade the RAM to 16GB? Thanks in advance!
I've had a few comments asking how to install The Sims 4 on the MacBook Air - the solution is super simple and will take seconds! The M1 MacBook Air ships with a 30W Type-C charger, which is much smaller than the one we are used to with the 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro that have a 61W and 96w chargers. The charger size is quite small ā like that of the iPad or iPhone ā which makes it really easy to carry around. The Sims 4, both in CD and digital edition, is compatible for Windows and MacOS, just as The Sims 3. Iām running the game on a MacBook Air just fine. The easiest way is to install Origin on your Mac and download the game from there. š» MacBook Air M1 8GB yes: Rosetta 2: Metal: 50-60 FPS: 2560 Ć 1600: High (no aliasing, uncompressed textures on, laptop mode off) Keeps to 60fps most of the time, even in community lots with several sims and larger residential lots.

Smooth gaming experience compared to when using MacBook Pro 13' w Touch bar (mid-2017), but travelling to different places might suddenly slow down the loading process which eventually returns to normal or faster. Note that it might crash from time to time (see notes) Gameplay about 2 hours, crashes 3 times which makes the computer non-responsive.
